I've spent thirty-five years learning to see what's underneath a story. There's no course here, no seven-step formula, just the way I've been reading films, scripts, and my own life for decades, close enough to find what's actually sitting underneath.
I've spent three and a half decades making films on almost no money, which meant learning to see past the surface of things because I couldn't afford to be fooled by it. Every story worth telling, mine or anyone else's, carries something underneath what it shows you. Most people watch a film once and move on. I've spent a career watching the same handful of stories over and over until the machinery underneath them started showing itself.
This is where I hand that over. Not the whole method dressed up as a secret. The actual way I read a film, a script, a piece of my own life, closely enough to find the argument it's making without ever announcing it. Filmmaking sits inside this too, because everything I know about building a story came from learning to take one apart first.

I wrote BELIEVE after sitting with Disclosure Day longer than I probably should have, running the same handful of scenes back until a detail I'd walked past a dozen times finally stopped being background. A date on a computer screen. A name that meant exactly what it said and I'd never once stopped to ask why.
